Anderson Stone, Jr., was born August 28, 1936 to the union of Anderson Stone., Sr. and Maudie Holland Benberry Stone.
Anderson was educated in the Detroit Public School system. He served and was honorable discharged from the United States Navy in 1957. He married and fathered one son. He retired from the City of Detroit.
All of his life, Anderson made choices and he earned the nickname, "Tuffy." He liked to run at Bell Island. He liked to play tennis at Palmer Park. He loved swimming and never hesitated to dive in wherever he found water. He loved to travel and always marveled at the beauty of nature and God's creation. During his illness he lived up to his nickname. He suffered and he fought hard for life which ended at 4:20 p.m., on February 19, 2013.
Anderson was a concerned neighbor; he was a loyal friend and a reliable caregiver. He was a son, a single father, and uncle, and a cousin. He responded whenever needed. He was a devoted brother. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized in 1946 out of New Mr. Hermon Baptist Church. He was preceded in deaty by his parents and his oldest brother Rudolph.
Anderson was the father of Anderstone, III; he was a brother of Billie Hawkins, Roland (Octavia) Benberry, Marlena Tunstall, William (Kathleen) Stone of Stockton, California, Lester Stone of Oakland, California, and Marvin Stone; he was a constant cousin to Fay Griffin; he was Uncle to nieces and nephews and friends to many others. We loved him; we will miss him and we will always cherish the memory of our "Tuffy".
