ANNA was born July 20, 1935 in Gadsden, Alabama to the late Ellis and Essie Ware Barker. Anna was the 10th of 14children raised in Triumph the Church and kingdom of God in Christ.
Anna was 2 years old when the family moved to Detroit, eventually settling on Division Street (a bustling neighborhood during Detroit's "Heyday"s).
Educated in the Detroit Public School system, Anna was such an outstanding student that she was able to graduate and attend business school at the age of 16.
While attending a Miller High School football game, Anna met the love of her life: Maron Stanford, Jr. Anna and Maron (called Bookie by his friends) were married in 1953. To their union 4 were born: Donna, Eric (deceased), Diana and Yvette.
Together, Anna and Bookie often worked to "give back" to the community by volunteering and mentoring the children of the neighborhood through Detroit's Police Athletic Leagues. They successfully coached The Black Star (a teen girl's baseball team) to several league championships.
After 30 years, Anna retired from the Internal Service where she worked as a Computer Analyst. In retirement, Anna continued to work in the community with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Anna begun her ne journey home on July 10, 2014.
She leaves to carry her memory: her daughters, Donna, Diana and Yvette: grandchildren, Kristofer (Jimelle), Jocelyn (Delbert), Maron, Kyle and India; great-grandchildren, Kiara, Kayla, Jailynn, Kynndel, Kristin and Kristofer.: and a host of family and friends
