Arthur Sommerville, Jr., affectionately known as "Bubba/Bub/Bubbles" was born October 1, 1945 in River Rouge, Michigan to the union of Arthur Sommerville, Sr. and Maggie Lee Walton. Arthur embraced Christ at an early age attending Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan.
He received his formal education in the Detroit Public School system, where he graduated from Southwestern High School in 1964. He also obtained an Associates degree in Criminal Justice from Wayne County Community College. After graduating from high school he went on to work for Whitehead and Kale Iron Works Co. in River rouge, Michigan. He later went on to work as a Security Officer for the Detroit Public School Department. He loved sports, cooking, baking and spending quality time with family and friends. Arthur has an infectious smile that would light up any room.
Arthur met the love of his life, Jennifer JoAnn McCowan and was united in Holy Matrimony on September 16, 1967. To this union four beautiful children were born; Gerald, Anthony, Nicole and Matthew Sommerville.
On Friday, September 12, 2014 at Oakwood Hospital In Dearborn, Michigan, God called Arthur home to be with his parents; Arthur Sommerville and Maggie Walton;2 brothers Oscar (Bee) and Paul (Hank) Sommerville and special friend Chetum Brazil.
Left to celebrate and rejoice his life is his loving wife of 47 years, Jennifer Sommerville, 3 sons;Gerald (Kim) sommerville, Anthony (Dina) Sommerville; Matthew Sommerville;1 daughter; Nicole Sommerville, 7 grandchildren; Theresa, Tarrius, Anthony Jr, Latreese, Gerald Jr, Shylah, Zshalon, Antonio and Justin, 2 great grandchildren; Athena and Joseph, 5 siblings; Earvin (Sharon)Sommerville, Earline Calloway, Theresa Lee, Jennifer Thomas, Arthur Mae Williams, 3 3 godchildren; Shannon Perry, Jessie Perry Jr, and Lamont Jones, special friends; Leila Perry, Willie Rankin, Preston Williams, Alvin Hunter and Fred Simmons. Arthur also leaves a host of aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends who loved him dearly.
