Mrs. Arvell Curl one of the four children of the late James and Elsie Jones was born on June 7, 1914 in Plumerville AK. Arvell was united in matrimony to the late James Curl. To this union one son was born James Lee Curl who preceded her in death.
She received her education in Plumerville AK. Arvell was baptized and accepted the Lord at a young age. She joined New Bethel Baptist Church after migrating to Detroit with her husband and served numerous years on the usher board and a host of other church auxiliaries.
After the death of her husband, Arvell moved to Northwest Detroit where she joined the church family of First Baptist Institutional church. She served on the missionary board and was a member of second usher board. Arvell was deeply committed to her church and was a faithful and active member until God called her home. Her greatest joy was music, watching the Pistons and preparing Thanksgiving dinners for her family surrounded by her grandchildren. She was passionately known for being the best cook and homemaker that ever lived. Her specialty among others was her mouth-watering Pound Cakes, Sweet Potato Pies, and Peach Cobblers. Arvell took great pride in maintaining an immaculate home where she always offered a homemade meal.
Arvell departed this life on October 15, 2011, in Botsford Hospital in Farmington, MI. She lived a very full and wonderful life. She leaves to mourn her death and cherish her loving memory, Three Granddaughters, Karen Curl-Stepney, Karalee Tabron, and Krystal Upshaw, Four Great Granddaughters, Lauren Tabron, Elyse Stepney, Kalynn Tabron, Kameron Upshaw, Daughter In-law, Ann Ester Curl, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Service for the late Arvell Curl
Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 19,2011 from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Stinson Funeral Home 16540 Meyers at the Lodge Fwy.
Family Hour: Thursday, October 20,2011 10:30 A.M.
Funeral: 11:00 at First Institutional Baptist Church 17101 W. 7 Mile Road at Evergreen.
