Catherine E. Bouey, was born September 26, 1926 to Samuel and Cora Allen in Bessemer, Alabama. She was the fourth of seven children and had a strong bonding with her siblings. She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Zack Bouey; brothers, Robert "Son" Allen Ph.D., Samuel "Doc" Allen, Aaron "Boot" Allen; and sisters, Lonnie Mae Ward and Ella "Fat" Colston.

Catherine was a proud graduate of Dunbar High school in Bessemer, Alabama. After High School, she attended Alabama A&M College. Her adventurous spirit, beconed her to travel frequently to Georgia and California with her sister Mable. However she eventually settled in Detroit, which she referred to as "the greatest city in the world". It was in Detroit that she met the oe of her life Earl Bouey whom she married, and became a homemaker and cared for their six children. Catherine believed motherhood was one of god's highest examples of servitude, and was grateful to be a servant in that capacity. Catherine instilled in her children the importance of service to God, the value of education, and the significance of a strong work ethic. Her house was filled with much laughter and love. Neighbors would often refer to Catherine's home as a "doll-house" because she took pride in keeping an immaculate house and a well manicured lawn.

Catherine enjoyed caring for her grandchildren and encouraged them to pursue education. She found pleasure in teaching them how to take care of a home and plant flowers. Talking to her grandchildren and hearing about their success always brought a smile to Catherine's face. Her love for children extended beyond her own family. She served as a surrogate grandmother to many of the neighborhood children.

Catherine was passionate about health and wellness, politics and current events. She loved listening to gospel music and religious programs. She attended church services with her children whenever she could. When Catherine was unable to travel to church she would listen to Hartford Memorial Baptist Church service every Sunday.

The Lord called Catherine home for eternal rest on September 5, 2015 with granddaughter Alisha at her bedside/
