Damon Neal Ogden was born March 9, 1957, to Joseph Nelson and Lutisha (Ogden) Smith in Detroit, Michigan.
Damon accepted Christ in 2001 and was a member of True Foundation Church COGIC in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Damon was united in Holy Matrimony to Dawn Marie Ogden. Damon had three children: Erarner Overall of Sterling Heights, Michigan, Lamar Ogden of Detroit, Michigan, and Lutisha Ava Monique smith of Westland, Michigan.
Damon life changed dramatically when he gave his life to God. He would call his mother daily to preach, pray, sing and worship with her. He was president of his residential community, where he taught Bible study; he was a mentor for a lot of the young men in the community; and he was a speaker at men's rehabilitation facilities throughout the city of Minneapolis.
After a faithful battle with cancer, Damon succumbed on April 8, 2105. He asked that we remember his birthday and the date of his death with joy and celebrate his life! His father, Joseph Nelson; Stepfather, Norman Smith; brothers, Michael N. Smith, Joseph Nelson, Jr., Charles Nelson, Frankie Alex, and Eldred Smith; and sisters, Lavera Hussey, and Murie Nelson preceded him in death.
Damon leaves to cherish his memory; his wife Dawn Marie Ogden; three children, Erarner Overall (Brian), Lamar Ogden, and Lutisha a. Smith; grandchildren, Brianne Overall, Raven Overall, Angel Salazar, Brian Overall Jr., La'mya Ogden, and Jordan Barnes; mother, Lutisha (Ogden) Smith, siblings, Donna Robinson (Howard), Jacqueline Stinson, Quincy Smith, Eric Nelson, Robert Nelson, Verlestine Baxter, Keeling Nelson, Roxie Nelson; and a host of relatives and friends.
