Obituary

Viewing Friday August 24, 2012 from 1PM until 8PM at the Stinson Northwest Chapel Located 16540 Meyers Road at the John Lodge Fwy. Funeral Services will be Held Saturday at 11AM in the Chapel of the Funeral Home. Family Hour is at 10:30 AM. Interment: Westlawn Cemetery.

Delores "Cookie" windham was born to the late Geraldine and Richard Lary anderson, October 16, 1946, in Greenville, Mississippi.

When cookie was a little girl, her mother and grandmother, the late Martha Grammar, relocated to Detroit, Michigan. She was educated through the Detroit Public School system and attended Northwestern High School, where she met and later married James Windham.

Later, when Cookie's mother met James Black, Sr., Cookie became the oldest sister to four brothers, David Earl Black (deceased), James Black, Jr. (deceased)Louis Black (deceased), and Odie Black.

Cookie was a housewife and a loving mother with a big heart. She ofter did whatever she could to help people and enjoyed giving care to anyone in need. whether it was a dog, cat or a person you knew she would give you a warm meal and a place to stay.

The Lord called Cookie home on Monday, August 20, 2012. at 11:00 a.m. she was in her daughter's home and surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She leaves to cherish her loving memory: seven children, Geraldine Roberts(Lydell), James Windham Jr. (Debbie), Anthony Windham (Stacy), Christopher Windham (deceased), Thomas Smith ( Marquita), Shawn Hamby (Crystal), and Teshuna Grayson (Raymond); 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one brother Odie Black (LaNora); one sister, Sandra Hamby; three nieces, Tonya Black, Martha Black (deceased), and kimberly black; three nephews, Arthur Howell, James Howell (Buster), and David Black; sister-in-law, LaDonne Black; and a host of cousins and friends.
