Deloris Morden Phipps was born February 16,1937 in Lynch KY to her parents,Collie and Willie Mae Robinson. In 1940, Collie Robinson,a mine worker moved his wife, Deloris and her step brother Robert Lee to Detroit where he worked for Ford Motor Company.
Deloris accepted Christ at an early age when she was baptized at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Detroit. She attended Detroit PUBLIC schools whre she developed an interest in civil rights and politics. Hermother remarried and Deloris was blessed with two sisters and another brother.
In 1970, she became a member of Fellowship Chapel, where she served on the usher board until 2001. Deloris cherished her church and her fellow members. She worked as a home health aide until she retired due to health concerns. This amazing mother raised two children and loved her dogs almost as much as she loved her children.
one of her favorite things was spending tome with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. And everyone loved her cooking. Selflessly giving of herself was one of her strongest characteristics. She loved to offer information and advice, whether you asked for it or not. Her sense of style and her love for maintaining a beautiful home were also lrgendary.
She married the love of here life, Leslie Phipps of Detroit, Michigan.
When her husband retired, they moved to Valley Grande, Al. to enjoy the warmer climate. For 13 years they lived a carefree lifestyle in their beautiful home. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2012 and came back to Detroit in August 2014 to continue her fight. Deloris reached the end of her journey and peacefully passed away on Wednesday, October 8,2014 at Evergreen Health and Living Center in Southfiled,Michigan. She made her transition at the age of 77.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Leslie Phipps; daughter, Sabrina Robinson; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Michelle Morden; hersister, Renella Minnis; grandchildren, Benjamin Robinson, Jenai Joe Moredn, Lauren Morden, Brice Morden; and a host of great grandchildren,nephews,nieces,cousins,other relatives and friends. She meant so much to so many.She is preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Lee Hill and Robert Lee Robinson and her sister, Edith Brown.
