Tom Anderson met Ms. Ada Lee Vance, after a brief courtship they were married. They were the proud parents of thirteen children. The family began with four boys Sampson, J.D., Bige Fred, Clyde and three girls Betty Anderson, Pearline Coleman,Essie Hall all preceded her in death. Then the eighth child Dorothy Mae was born on Sunday March 30,1930 at Desoto Hospital in Desoto Parish in Mandfiels, LA.. After Dorothy's birth; Momma Ada gave birth to three more sons Clarence(deceased), Adam,Leon (Leslie) Anderson and two more Clara and Helen Anderson both of who preceded her in death.

Dorothy was avery helpful child who was always tending to her mothers's need whether cleaning,cooking,sewing,or out in the field. She was a loving child. She attended the Desoto Parish Training School and graduated May 1948 from Desoto High School. Dorothy was an excellent cook. Her father who was a Barber, and Dorothy would help her mother to prepare his noon time meals and take them to him so he could eat on time. After graduation she studied nursing and worked at the local in the cafeteria. First and far most she was a woman who loved God, a wife and mother. She also was a licensed Beautician, A Domestic Worker, and a Postal Worker. Dorothy accepted Christ at an early age and she was baptized at Friendship Baptist Church in Bossier City,LA.

Dorothy meet the love of her life in 1949, Star Lee Davis. He was singing with several Gospel Quartet Groups in Sreveport, Bossier City, and Mansfield,LA. They had acourtship of approximately a year and married on September 2,1950 when he returned from Los Angeles,CA.

Dorothy wanted more for her family. Therfore, Star along with Dorothy's brothers Clarence and JD Anderson moved up to Detroit,Mi. where they secured jobs with GM. Star didn't like the confinement of the plants so he started his career in constructiomn work with Laborer's Local 334.

Dorothy joined Trimph Missionary Baptist Church in May of 1956. During her early years at Triumph she worked countless hours teaching Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, and helping to organized the annual Church Picnic and Christmas program. She loved working in the Womens Missionary and Bible Study. Outside the church she volunteered for the Boy Scouts and March and Dimes.

During Dorothys and Star's union nine children were born. Their first child Sunday ,July 22,1951 and they named her Ruby Faye, followed by Star Leon and Larry Cornelius(deceased),Dorothy Virgina Brantley (Reginald),Michael Darwin (Mary), Willard Lydell (Elizabeth),Keith O'Dell(deceased),Cynthia Annette Woods (Jonathan), and Cassandra Delois Davis.

Dorothy's family grew as nineteen grandchildren arrived and six great grand children and a host of friends and relatives
