Dorothy Jane Stinson
was born August 28, 1930, to Robert and Hattie Montrose Patton in Bristol, Virginia.
Dorothy relocated to Detroit at the age of thirteen and completed her education at Miller High School.
Dorothy was a member of People's Community Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and member of the usher board.
Dorothy was joined in marriage to Richard Cowan in 1948. From this union, two daughters were born: Patricia and Rosalind.
In 1969, Dorothy joined in marriage to Roger Lee Stinson who preceded her in death in 2011. She was employed for thirty years at the Edison Institute and retired in 1992.
Dorothy was a nurturer, caregiver and a loving person. She loved her family and every person she came in contact with.
Dorothy departed this life after a brief illness on June 4, 2016. Her parents, Robert and Hattie Montrose Patton also preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory; two daughters, Patricia Seaton and Rosalind Lee (Bill); five grandchildren, Ronald, Krystal, Reginald (Sherri), Artesha (Melvin), and Kellee; thirteen great-grandchildren; three great-great- grandchildren; special cousins, Tanis and Natalie; sister-in-law, Clara Mae; a host of cousins and friends.
