AMOS ELLIS, SR was born February 28, 1941 in Wetumka, Alabama to the union of A.C. and Annie Ellis. He was the fourth child of seven children. As a child he earned the nickname "Bird" after one look into his shiny, beautiful eyes. Growing up he developed a passion and talent for repairing cars, bikes and anything mechanical. He graduated from Elmore County High School in 1961 and later met and married the love of his life, Rose Barbara Ann (Howard) Ellis on June 20, 1964. In 1955, they moved to Washington, D.C. where he fulfilled his childhood dream of becoming a Certified Master Mechanic.
In 1969 he accepted Christ the Lord as his personal savior and was filled with the Holy Ghost. In 1970 he accepted his calling and became an ordained elder under the late Bishop L.N. Forbes. In 1973 he moved to Detroit, Michigan where he became a member of the International Gospel Center and was ordained as an elder under the late Apostle Charles O. Miles. He loved the Lord with all his heart and always found opportunities to share his testimony with others. He worked diligently in the prisons, nursing homes and mission ministries while at International Gospel Center and enjoyed preaching every chance he got.
