Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 11, 2011 at Stinson Funeral Home located at 1939 Fort Street Detroit, MI 48217 at 10:30AM. Interment Meadowcrest. Ernest Lee Thompson was born on January 3, 1933 to the late Hildra and Camilla Thompson in Prairie, Mississippi. Ernest was known to his friends as "FOX". He specialized in carpentry and could build anything.

He was educated in the River Rouge School District and afterward enlisted in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in June of 1961. Later
he was employed with Ford Motor Company where he retired in 1997.

Ernest was joined in matrimony to Shirley Ann Thompson and to this union Tracey Kynn Thompson was born. He was a proud father and grandfather.

Ernest was an excellent cook, love to fish and be around his family. His brother-in-law ("his ace"). DuWayne Weatherford, were big Lion Fans.

He leaves to cherish his memories three children; Anthony Jerome Peterson, Tracey Lynn Thompson and Jeanna Margaret-Lynn, Three grandchildren; John Simmons, Jr. Tomise McRae, Tomeka Peterson and Brian Lee Thompson. One brother John Simmons;four sisters; Johnetta Whitlow, Robin Stewart, Elizabeth Griffin and Laura Jean Weatherford both preceded him in death. Three brother-n-laws DuWayne Weatherford (Jackie) Theodore (Fanny) Harrington and Augustus Wharton of Louisville, Kentucky. He also leaves to cherish his memory a special friend and a long time companion Shirley Liddell. Three uncles Willie, Robert and Zack Bowen and one aunt; Dora Thompson who all proceeded him in death.
