Viewing Saturday November 17,2012 from 9AM until 11AM at the Northwest Chapel of the Stinson Funeral Home Located 16540 Meyers Road at the John Lodge Fwy. Funeral Services will begin at 11AM in the Chapel of the Funeral Home. Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery
On November 10, 2012 , Evelyn L. Johnson was called home to be with our Lord.
She was born on February 13, 1922 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania.
She was the beloved daughter of the late Arthur Ernest and Ida Mae Turk.
Evelyn was educated in the Pittsburg Public School system, and was a graduate of Allegheny High school.
'She later relocated to Detroit, Michigan. Soon after her relocation to Michigan, she joined her cousin Berry Gordy, whom she loved and adored. Later she would work for DTE and AT&T in Michigan from which she would retire.
Evelyn's spiritual walk began with receiving the right hand of fellowship, at Bethel A.M.E. Church where she was a distinguished, faithful senior member.
Evelyn met and married the love of her life, Harrison Johnson, Jr. in 1959 who preceded her in death.
Evelyn was the epitome of style, grace and elegance, and was renowned for her quick wit and sincere honesty.
In the winter of her life Evelyn relocated to Charlotte North Carolina.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, the late Arthur Ernest and Ida Mae Turk, sisters;Bessie Nolan and Earcel Dirleand Grace Tillman, brothers;Arthur Napier Turk and Charles Turk.
Evelyn leaves behind her faithful niece, Evelyn Mitchell (Michael) of Charlotte, N.C., brother-in-law Leroy Tillman of Pittsburg, PA, her Godson Isiah Thompson of Detroit, MI and a host of nieces. nephews and other devoted family and friends to mourn her passing.
