REFLECTIONS OF LIFE

Helen Horton Lancaster was born August 1, 1925 to the late John Henry and Annie Reva Horton in Detroit, Michigan. She was the sixth child born to this union.

Helen was baptized at an early age. She was educated in the Detroit Public School system, where she attended Columbian Primary School, McMichael and graduated from Northwestern High School.

Helen was a very outgoing person and engaged in social and athletic activities on a wide range such as horseback riding, roller and ice skating.
She was also in a teenage club known as the Golden Leaf Girls, doing charity and social activities. During her employment years, she worked at J.L. Hudson Department Store downtown for a short time; but she was primaily employed with the Detroit Board of Education where she remained until her retirement in 1985.

Helen enjoyed traveling during her summer vacations and visiting different cities each year. When she met and married Ronald Lancaster, the traveling escalated to San Francisco, New York, Niagra Falls, Las Vegas, Miami and New Orleaans during the Mardi Gras season. Helen was especially noted for her wilingness to involve herself in any aactivities, where she could be of assistence with her family members and close friends.

We love you Helen but God loved you more. In her passing, she leaves to cherish her memory; her husband, Ronald Lancaster; sister, Hazel Edwards; stepson, Will Lancaster and wife, Carol; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five nieces, Sharon, Deborah, Delphine, Daphne and Deliliah; and a hodst of great-nieces, great-nephews, family and friends. Our love will be with you always
