Funeral Services Thursday Feb. 28, 2013 at the Stinson Northwest Chapel located at 16540 Meyers Road at the John Lodge Freeway. Family Hour is 10:30AM. Interment: Detroit Memorial Park West Cemetery.
Minister James Boggs was born in Detroit, Michigan to Mrs Mary Boggs. He attended Sheryl Elementary Schoool and graduated from Mackenzie High School. During high school he palyed in the band, ran track and was a member og the R.O.T.C.
Minister Boggs was a career serviceman who served in the United States Army where he played in the band that accompanied President Kennedy as he traveled to many countries. After serving 20 years, he retired with an honorable discharge.
Minister Boggs was a generous person and loved to help peoplel I Bro. Jerome Williams) can remember on three different occasions he surprised our family with gifts of Bibles for my wife and me and on another occasion we received a chrystal bowl. He went so far as to surprise our son Shaun with a birthday cake, after church services, that had a picture of a race car drawn on it especially for him.
Minister Boggs served as an assistent to Pastor Woodfolk aand to myself at the Uriah Missionary Baptist Church. He took it upon himself to do church maintenance to make sure everything was ready for Sunday services. He served on the church's evangelism team and was a great help during our cacation bible school. He was a faaithful member up until the time serious health problems prevented him from continuing in his duties.
