James Corbert Jackson, 90, or "Papa Jack" as he was known, was called home to glory on a Saturday morning, November 5, 2011. He was the son of Benjamin Jackson and Annie Evans. James was born in Cleveland, Ohio, December 18, 1920.
He grew up in Royal Oak Township, Michigan with his mother and stepfather (Robert Perdue). James graduated from Lincoln High School in Ferndale, Michigan in 1940 where he played football and ran track. His nick name in high school wass "Hurricane Jackson".
In 1939, James met his wife Juanita Emanual in Box Springs, Georgia. They later married on July 5, 1941. Together, they had four children, eight grandsons, and sixteen great-grandchcildren.
She preceded him in death in 1982.
James served his country proundly during World War II enlisting in the Armyon August 17, 1944, and remaining in the service for two years before returning home in 1946.
He retired from General Motors in 1983. James enjoyed traveling with his family and cooking. His hobbies included playing cards, fishing and reading--especially westerns and mysteries.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children: -Dr. Gloria (Charles) Morris, grandson Christopher and great-grandchildren Richard, Jenna, Keileigh, LaTeaona, TaTeaona and ChrisTeaona;Diane BEatty, grandson Eric (Ceona) great-grandchildren Joaquin aand Javier;
Horace Jackson (Gwendolyn), grandsons Anthony, Brandon (Kelley), great-grandchildren Alyssa and Isabel; grandson Carlton (Monica), and great-grandchildren Justin & Cody. Horace prededed him in death in 1991.
Robert Jackson (Julia), grandsons Craig (Anju), great-grandchildren Jaya and Jaiden; grandson Bryon (Kristie), great-grandson Parker; and grandson Colin.
He also leaves numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
