John Edward (Eddie) Gales was born on September 27, 1927 in Springfield, Ohio to Lenard and Ollie Galed. He attended school in Springfield and relocated to Detroit with his family when he was thirteen. Eddie graduated from the Detroit Public School system and attended St. Stephen African Methodist Church.
During World War II, Eddie served two years in the United Stated ArAir Force. Upon receiving an honorable discharge. he worked at several jobs brfore starting a career with the State of Michigan as a lake water surveyor. After retiring from the state, Eddie took another job working at First National Bank.
Eddie established a special love with Roxanna Gail Moore and the two were united in Holy Matrimony on August 19, 1972. A loving companion, together they travelled the world, visiting some of its most desirable destinations.
While looking at Eddie one could not help notice impeccable truly one-of-a-kind style, which included more than just his wardrobe-it encompasses his personality as well. He was a very straightfoward individual, and one always knew where they stood with him. He shared boundless and deep love with his friends, and his humor among them ran equally deep.
Eddie's social interests were diverse and included: fishing, boating, golfing, memberhip in a football club, where he and his friends gather to discuss football games, and music. Because he had so many interests, finding new friends was not difficult for him. Eddie truly loved jaazz music, particulay Bebop, which seems to have suited his personality with it's fast paced, complex harmonies and melodies, in that it allowed him to meet and share his music passion with oth like-minded people.
Eddie will truly be missed but while we are mourning the loss of our family member and friends, other are rejoicing to meet him beyond the veil. Eddie was proceeded in death by his parents: Lenard and Ollie Gales, his wife: Roxanna Gales, one sister: Barbara Gales;, and his aunt: Zella Davis.
Left to cherish his memories are special friends: Janis Porter, Dwight P. Rance, Milton (Bernadette) Weaver, and Centurium R. Frost; sisters-in-law: Gwen Spann, Roberta Tolbert, Deborah E. Seay, along with a host of extented family members and friends, too numerous her to name.
"When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced, Live your life in a manner so that when you die the world cries and you rejoice."
