Memorial Service, Thursday October 29th, 2015 Family Hour 10:30-Service 11;00 a.m. Chapel of Stinson Funeral Home 16540 Meyers at the John Lodge Fwy.
John Eldridge Smith was born November 1, 1934 in Eudora, Mississippi to Drew Smith, Jr. and Beatrice Pratt Smith.
While growing up in Eudora, he attended Union Hill Baptist Church. After graduating from high school he relocated to Detroit, Michigan where he met and married Mattie Henderson. From this union one daughter, Carmen Smith was born.
He had a great passion for horses. He spent some time training them. He also enjoyed sports and playing cards. He often set aside tine to read and study the Bible, and enjoying a good heated discussion with Carmen.
He leaves to cherish his memory: daughter Carmen Smith, sister: Callie Sanders of Eudora, Mississippi, the Reed family, the Belford Family and the Smith family, along with a host of other relatives. Including special friends, Willie and Verdell Bell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Drew and Beatrice Smith, brother Lee Smith and sister Ruthie Smith.
