Johnny Raymond James, Sr was born June 28, 1952 in River Rouge, Michigan to the union of Wilbert and Helen Maxine James.
He was the fourth of five children. He was preceded in death by his father Wilber james Sr., two brothers Charles and Wilbert James, Jr., along with a special sister-in-law LaBertha James.
Johnny accepted Christ at a early and was a member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Johnny was educated in the Detroit Pubic School system and graduated from Southwestern High School in 1971. Johnny was employed by McClouth Steel.
Johnny married Gladys Burgess on December 9, 1971, and to this union Johnny Raymond James, Jr. was born. "King James", as he was affectionately known, was a very outgoing and friendly person. He also has a passion for working on cars. In his younger days, Johnny enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also had a passion for motorcycles. Johnny had a special love for his children and he was a devoted father and grandfather.
Johnny leaves precious memories to be cherished by his devoted and loving mother Helen Maxine James-Wilson; his children Johnny Jr., Shana (Derrick), LaKeisha (Devin), Janae, and Jazmin; eight grandchildren Jasmine, DeMarea, Johnny, Devin Jr., Aleah, Jeremiah Jr., Shania and Amaya; two sisters Helen and Alberta (Charles), two loving aunts Iva Tunstull of Detroit, MI and Ethel Forestor of Columbus, OH; Six nephews, three nieces, and a host og great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He also leaves to cherish his memory, a life long friend Geraldine Gross-Giddings. "King James" will be truly missed!
