Obituary

Viewing is Tuesday February 12, 2013 from 1PM until 8PM at the Stinson Northwest Chapel Located 16540 Meyers Road at the John Lodge Fwy. Funeral Services will be Wednesday February 13, 2013 at 10:30AM in the Chapel of the Funeral Home. Family Hour is 10AM. Interment: Great Lakes National Cemetery.

Kenneth Todd France, Sr. lovingly known as K.T., was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 31, 1942 to the late George and Louie France. He was the sixth of fourteen children born to this union.

Kenneth accepted Christ at an early age while attending Sweet Rock Missionary Baptist Church.

He attended Northeastern High School in Detroit. In 1962, he was drafted into the US Army and was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina with the Alpha Company, 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment. He was a distinguished serviceman. During his service, he became Airborne-Qualified as a Paratrooper and had 42 jumps with the 82nd Airborne. He earned several medals, one of which was an Expert Rifle Marksman (the hughest level that can be achieved) and the Good Code of Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1964.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Ethel France who preceded him in death on July 17, 2012. To their union was born Kenneth T. France, Jr. (Tasha), David L. France (who preceded him in death), Robert L. France (Yvette), Christopher L. France, Elthea Gregory (Wesley), and Darrel T. France.

Kenneth worked with several; companies in the automotive industry, ending with Chrysler Corporation.

His favorite past-time was jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, chess, fishing and playing cards. Also lovingly called "pops" by his children and grandchildren, the things he enjoyed most were being in the company of family. K.T. will be missed for his sense of humor, selfessness and his presence in the community.

Kenneth Todd France, Sr. made his transition on Tuesday, February 5, 2013. He leaves to chersih his memory, Kenneth (Tasha), Robert (Yvette), Christopher, Elthea (Wesley) and Darrel; 22 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; two brothers, Arthur (Rita) France and Charles (Maxine) France; six sisters, Georgia (Donald) Richards, Mildred (Solomon) Braswell, Theresa (Nathaniel) Mosley, Sandra (Louis) Clay, Alice (Willie) Rhodes and Theaster Manciel. He also leaves a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Kenneth was preceded in death by three brothers, Hamilton, Ronald and Dexter France; two sisters, Sarah Johnson and Janice Turk; and a granddaughter, Faith France.
