Viewing Thursday August 22, 2013 from 1PM until 8PM at the Stinson Nortwest Chapel Located 16540 Meyers Rd at the John Lodge Fwy. Funeral Services will be on Friday at 11AM in the Chapel of the Funeral Home. Family Hour is 10:30 AM. Interment: Detroit Memorial Park West

Leo Patterson Banks, Jr. passed away peacefully on August 14, 2013 at William Beaumont Hospital.

He was born on November 7, 1950 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the union of Leo Patterson Banks, Sr and Eva Mae Steverson, both of whom preceded him in death. That same year, the family later moved to Detroit, Michigan in search of better opportunities.

Leo was full of life and accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. Leo graduated from Northwestern High School where he obtained his high school diploma and later completed two years college, earning an associates degree in electrical engineering.

Leo was a jack -of-all trades and eventually gained employment with the Department of Transportation. he had a very fun-filled and eventful career ubtil his retirement in 1989.

Leo later met and married the love of his life, Barbara Austin, and to this union one child was born, Mary Simone Banks.

For many years, Leo was the Head Patriarch of All his family. He was always 'On Somebody's Head' and tried his BEST to keep his family and friends close, on the straight and narrow path, and striving for something better.

Leo's favorite past times were being with family and friends, watching basketball and football and playing Dominos.

Leo leaves behind to cherish his memories; his loving and devoted wife of 33 years, Barbara Banks;five children, Angela Anderson (Carl), Starletta Banks, Damond Banks (Lakeisha), Cinnamon Banks, Mary Banks, and her adopted son, Damon Bridges (Tuesday);14 grandchildren: Carl, Darius, Christien, Dazion, Danielle, Diamond, Darren, Destyni, Cameron, Cyra, Paris, Asia, Seven, Sir (preceded in death), and two adopted granddaughters Rahannie and Diamond; three sisters anfd five brothers; Gevenetta Haynes (Rick), William Banks (Preceded him in death), Dwight Banks, Keith Banks, Linda Crease, Brenda Norman (Ray), Michael Banks and Ray Amerson; and a host of family, friends, and neighbors
