Obituary

Leon Crouther, Jr. was born on June 17, 1948, to the union of Leon Sr. and May Ella Crouther, in the city of Carthage, MS. The family moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1950, where Leon received his formal education in the Detroit Public School System.

Leon was an inquisitive child, ever busy, on the move. He always wondered how things worked. He spent many hours tinkering with wires and electronic gadgets, taking transistor radios and other things apart and then putting them back together. He was talented in that he learned how to work with electrical wiring and saved many friends and neighbors a lot of maintenance costs, because when anything stopped working, everyone called Leon.

Leon saw the world in his own special way. He didn't spend time on holding grudges or being angry. He just simply moved on to his next experience. While serving in the U.S. Navy, he met and married Theresa Janet Blount, of Norfolk, VA. Their union was blessed with three children. Over the years, he held a variety of jobs from driving a forklift to apartment building manager.

He last attended church at Holy Hope Heritage Church, Baptist where William Revely, Jr. was his Pastor and his friend.

Leon departed this life on March 22, 2021. He was preceded in death by his father, Leon Crouther, Sr., his grandparents, Buster (Doc) and Maybell Crouther and Anderson and Ellen Gaddis. He leaves to cherish his memory, three children, Tracey Blount, LaShawn Crouther Hunter, and Leon Crouther III. His beloved Mother, May Ella Crouther, two Sisters; Lenora Pennington (his twin), and Patsy (Robert) Elmore. One Brother, Perry Crouther. Nine Grandchildren; Eric Bradford, Leon Hunter, Darmesha Blount, Emonee Hunter, Jujuan Avans, Robin Crouther, Daesean Crouther, Shaniya Crouther, Sakylah Brown. Seven Great Grandchildren; Evan Bradford, Ethan Bradford, Leon Hunter, Leah Hunter, Logan Hunter, Lindsey Hunter, and IshMel Hunter as well as a host of many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends; Elliott Pennington, Jr. and Dr. Andrea Pennington.
