Lola Mae Jefferson, was born to the union of Charles and Lola Harvey February 19, 1925 in Brundidge, Alabama.
She met and was united in marriage to Tommie Boswell. To this union (2) daughters and (1) son was born Vernell, Della and James Adelle, Tommie, Adell and Vernell preceded her in death.
She later met and was united in marriage to the late Professor Melrose Jefferson, Sr. Too this union (3) sons was born Allen, Melrose, Jr. and Billy Jefferson.
Lola accepted Christ at an early age and then there was a call to duty. In 1958 Lola was called to the ministry. For the first few years she ministered in homes, teaching and healing by faith in Jesus Christ. Helping humanity to find Christ within himself.
In 1964 God spoke to Rev. Lola Jefferson and gave her our beautiful church name, Beam of Light Spiritual Temple where she was founder and pastor along with her beloved co-pastor Rev. Professor Melrose Jefferson, Sr. God was with her severy step of the way.
In 1974 God again spoke Rev Lola and gave her a spiritual name, The Great Light.
Lola, The Great Light was known for saying over the radio airways through the scripture that she might not be able to help everyone, but she tried. If she could only help one to become a better person, then her living would no be in vein.
In 1977 and 1978 inspired by God, The Great Light wrote and published two booklets the first entitled "Thoughts And Scripture For A Better Life" and the second "A New Life"
Our Great Light has helped so many through the love and help of our Savior Jesus Christ.
She leaves to chrrish her memory; three sons Allen Jefferson (Cebee) of Topeka, KS, Melrose Jefferson, Jr. (Thomasine)of Detroit, MI and Billy James Jefferson (Lou) of Toledo, OH; one daughter Della Stewart (Michael) Steward Sr.) of Detroit, MI ; none grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and aa host of nieces and other relatives and friends.
