Maple Abraham was born on March 4, 1924 in Kiblah, Arkansas to Herman and Lillie Henderson. Her father died when she was very young and her mother later married her step father "Big C" Coleman.

She was reared in the fear and admonitation of the Lord and as a young girl she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and began her Christian walk at the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Ida, Louisiana. She matriculated through the County school system.

In 1939 Maple married Nathaniel Abraham and this union was blessed with one child, a son, Willie B.

Nathaniel and Maple moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1955 seeking greater opportunities for gainful employment.

In 1957 Maple united with The New Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church during the pastorate of the late Rev. R.J. Cunningham and over the course 55year, Maple Abraham demonstrated the love of Christ that had been shed abroad in her heart to everyone she met. She was a faithful attendee of all church activities, a cheerful and regular tither, a prayer warrior for the ministry, the pastor and the members. Maple was aa member of the Missionary Ministry, the Business and Professional Women, the Soul-Winning Team and never, ever refused an opportunity to serve. She ful-filled her calling to minister to the sick and shut-in, and she visited and called everybody to speak a word of godly encouragement over them and to pray dor their healing and restoration. She knew God and understood His power and like the three Hebrew boys she would always tell you, "God is Able!" to remedy any situation. And, nobody could call on the Lord in fervent prayer with the sincerity and conviction of faith like Maple Abraham. Her warm and loving personality endered her to everyone. She was the "rock" of New Mt. Vernon and will be sorely missed. A soldier has gone home to be with the Lord!

In 1980 God sent a very special family into the life of Maple Abraham, JIm and Margo Campbelll.
She loved them so much that she called them "my other family" Throughout the years Jim, Margo, Jamie, Melanie and Lisa proved their love for her. They included her in every special occasion and allowed her to want for nothing. If you knew Maple Abraham, you had heard about Jim and Margo.

Maple Abraham departed this life to spend life eternal with Christ on January 2, 2012 at Beaumont Hospital.
