Orice Dennis was born July 19, 1935 in Glenville, Arkansas. He was the tenth of twelve children born to Clarence and Lola Dennis (both preceding him in death), as well as the youngest son. Orice spent his childhood in Glenville and McNeil, Arkansas, where he was educated in the public school system.
He attended Glenville Elementary and later Southside High. During his high school years, Orice was an accomplished athlete, excelling in basketball. After leaving high school, Orice moved to Texas where he worked several jobs and finally in 1955, moved to Detroit in pursuit of the American dream.

Two years after moving to Detroit, Orice met and married Bernice Fikes. To that union five children were born, Sharon-Rene', Tony Orice, Katrina, Orice Dennis, Jr., fondly known as "Mark" and Ay'Hanna LaToya. Shortly after marrying Bernice, Orice secured a position of Metal Finisher at Budd Co, where he worked for 34 years, receiving numerous awards for perfect attendance. At the time of his retirement, Budd presented Orice with a certificate of recognition for 34 years of dedicated service.

In 1983 Orice accepted Christ and was baptized at King David Baptist Church in Detroit, where he attended with his wife Bernice.

Orice was very family oriented, anyone who knew him knew how much he loved his family. They also knew Orice was a man of his word, a great provider and always the life of the party. His hard work ethic and disciplined demeanor was part of his moral fabric. These same principles were instilled and can be seen in all of his children.

Orice was also known for his savvy business sense. As a young man he realized the importance of investing in real property and purchased several homes and two vacation cabins for his family, one in Canada and the second one in Michigan. Orice loved to visit his cabins with his brothers and brothers-in-law, where they hunted, enjoyed family barbecues, a good game of dominos and lots of great parties. He also spent many summers there with his children, grandchildren and many friends.

Over the past few years, Orice began experiencing some serious health challenges which impacted his mobility. In spite of the challenges, he was still viewed as the patriarch of the family and continued to provide guidance, support, love and a strong hand when needed to his children. With the help of his children, Orice was able to remain in his home and remain independent as possible. He was also able to travel back to Arkansas to spend time with Larry, (his brother in law), attend his grandchildren's sporting events, graduations and other celebratory occasions.

On September 11, 2014, God called for his faithful servant and carried him home. He leaves to celebrate his home going, his children, Sharon-Rene (Carl), Tono (Betty), Katina (Royal), Orice Jr., and Ay'Hanna, 11 grandchildren, Precious, Alexandria, Coral, Imani, Cordel, Cameron, Tyler, Amyre, Royal III, Santonion, Tony D, two great-grandchildren, Christopher and Kassidy, four sisters, one brother and three brothers-in-law, (that fondly called him "Reecey Boy"), Luephelia Tucker (John), Maxine Brown, Willie Dennis, Martha Bea Jones, Clarice Hanson (Marion Ernest), his nephew Arthur, who was like a son to him, a godson Brandon Robinson, two special nieces Shenether Preston and Karen Hammons; and a host of other nieces nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by six siblings, Maceo Miles, May (Kary) Gay, Truman, Freeman, Charles Curtis (his best friend), Bobbie Jean as well as his best canine friend and loyal companion "Tata,"
