In Loving Memory of Peggy Jean Wilson

January 30, 1946 - June 28, 2025

Peggy Jean Wilson peacefully departed this life on Saturday, June 28, 2025, in Detroit, Michigan. She was born on January 30, 1946, in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late Rosie Mae Wilson. Peggy was the youngest of two children and shared a close bond with her beloved older brother, the late Cubia Crayton of Boston, Massachusetts.

In 1950, the Wilson family relocated from Memphis to Detroit, where Peggy would spend the rest of her life. She attended Detroit Public Schools and graduated from Eastern High School. Peggy was an avid reader and a lifelong learner; in 2009, she earned a Microsoft Application Certificate, followed by a Medical Assistant Diploma from Sanford Brown College in 2011.

Peggy Jean had a genuine love for all people, which naturally led her to a fulfilling career in healthcare. She became a certified Home Health Aide and dedicated her life to serving others through her work with the Visiting Nurse Association of Southeastern Michigan until her retirement.

Known for her impeccable style and love of fashion, Peggy was a true "fashionista" who never passed up an opportunity to shop-especially for shoes, clothes, and designer handbags. Her presence always lit up a room.

Above all, Peggy was a woman of deep faith. She loved the Lord with all her heart and lived by example as a kind, gentle spirit, and peacekeeper. In tense moments, she was known to gently defuse situations with her trademark phrase: "Honey, hush your fuss."

Peggy Jean was truly one of a kind-an angel here on earth whose radiant smile, infectious laughter, and joyous spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. Her legacy of love, faith, compassion, and service will live on in the hearts of many.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Rosie Mae Wilson of Detroit, MI; her brother, Cubia Crayton of Boston, MA; and her dear friend, Elizabeth Thomas of Detroit, Mi.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her nephew, Laurence Crayton (Jocelyn) of Boston, MA; her niece Farrell of Boston, MA; her cousins: Rosena Butler and Ta'Neesha Butler of Arizona; Larita Cason, Christopher Cason, De'Ante Bailey, De'Michael Nash, and Ansia Cason of Detroit, MI; the Roundtree family of Detroit, MI; Pastor Inger Davis and the Walk By Faith Ministries family; her close friends Ann Fairrow, Ken Nunn, and Greg Harris-all of Detroit; and a host of other loving relatives, friends, and extended family.

Peggy Jean's light will continue to shine through the lives she touched. She fought the good fight, and now she is resting in eternal peace with our Heavenly Father.
