Reginald Dean Sparks was born, prematurely, on December 18, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan to the union of the Arnold Sparks, Sr. and the late Susan Mary Helen McBride, which earned him the nick-name "Bitty Baby" from his maternal grandparents (Berta and Harvey McBride).
On January 16, 1961, Reg entered the U.S. army and served Honorably as a Military Policeman, until his discharge, on March 20, 1964.
Reginald worked for many years as a Machinist at Chrysler Corporation. He also worked as a Skilled Commercial Painter.
Reg was a True brother and friend, who enjoyed conversing on the deep philosophies of the ages. He was loyal to those he loved. And none of his siblings could ever hear the song "Ordinary Joe", by Terry Callier, without thinking of Reg.
Reginald departed this life, Monday June 1, 2015. He was the second oldest of Thirteen children, with five preceding him in death (Arnold, Beverly, Joyce, Samuel and Ricky).
He leaves to cherish his memory: His soul mate, Gloria Dawson, two children: Lee Thomas, and Karen Burnside, two brothers: Barry Meeks and Andre Meeks, five sisters: Constance Norwood, Zakiyah Karim, Carmen Davis, Camille Williams, and Terry Meeks,six grandchildren; Julisa Lewis, Lee Thomas, Jr., Alleah Thomas, Darold Burnside, Harold Burnside, and Karen Burnside. one great grandchild; Darold Burnside,Jr. And a host of nieces, nephews and toher relatives and friends.
