Vera Mae Campbell was one of eleven children born to the late Jack and Jessie Harrington on October 2, 1926 in River Rouge, Michigan. Seven siblings, Cleveland, Clinton Geneva, Ulyssus, George, Arthur and Jesse preceded her in going home to glory.

Vera received her education within the River Rouge School System, attending both Northrup Elementary School and River Rouge High School. She began her spiritual journey of worship and service at Universal Hagar Spiritual Church No.3, also in River Rouge, where she was an Altar Girl and Church Secretary. She later became a member of Fews Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church where she participated in Sunday School and Bible Study; and was a dedicated member of the Pastor's Chorus, and Stewardess Board. Her love of serving extended to the Order of Eastern Stars (Edith Benford Chapter Number 35), The Daughter of Isis, cancer pad making and helping family members along the way.

Vera was always a loving daughter and sister, but on April 24, 1945, she became the loving wife of David Campbell, Sr., They were subsequently blessed with four generations, including their nine children. They also welcomed her brother, Jesse, who made family more complete.

Vera was known for skillfully attending her beautiful flower gardens. She was also very family orientated. She was a sister in whom one could confide, and aunt that would lend comfort and support, a mother and gramdmother to many Neighborhood children and a friend and role model to young women within her church and community. Yet she is most remembered, loved and respected by her children for being able to make each one of them feel as if they were an only child.

After less than a year apart, Vera joined her beloved husband, David (and other loved ones) in paradise on March 20, 2015. She leaves her legacy, her children, Brenda (John), Frederick "Bucky" (Erma), Patty, Linda (Joseph), Vivian, Joyce, David Jr. (Paulette), Phillip (Duschanka) and Stanley Sr. (Vickie); nineteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; three brothers, Theodore (Fanny), John (Dorothy) and Charles (Margaret); her sister-in-law Darrylin and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
