Yvonne Mixon's Journey

Yvonne Mixon, known by family as Bunny, was born on March 29, 1946 to Jesse D and Jessie Mae Mixon, their first born. Her late sister, Sharron was born next, followed by brothers Michael and Toronney.

Yvonne spent most of her life in Michigan, short of 8 years in Cleveland where she finished high school in 1965.

In 1969 Yvonne became the proud mother to her late son Nicholas T Mixon.

Yvonne was quick to smile and make friends. She enjoyed traveling and fishing. She and her mother enjoyed fishing together so much it was said they would drop a hook in a bathtub just to try out their luck!

It's said, some eat to live, well, Yvonne lived to eat! Even to the end of her life she was trying to convince her baby brother to go and buy some Church's chicken, just to smell it, but he knew it wouldn't smell near as good as the chicken she was known to cook so he didn't go.

She leaves behind her brothers Michael and Toronney; two grandchildren, Kyra Lee James and Nicholas A Mixon; two sister-laws, Arlene and Janet; as well as nieces, and nephews; and numerous lifelong friends.

Yvonne Mixon was a lover of God and people as exemplified by her faithful membership at Synagogue Baptist Church in Detroit Michigan for the past 20 years (known as "Sister Mixon"). Though she was "saved" long before becoming a member of S.B.C., she loved growing in the Word of God. She loved telling people of the goodness of God and how they could be saved through the blood of Jesus. She was never bashful about telling someone about the unconditional love of Christ.

Yvonne will always be remembered for her kindness, faithfulness to God, and a willingness to help anyone that she came in contact with who needed help of any kind. She will thoroughly be missed by her biological family as well as her spiritual family at S.B.C. who loved her testimonies about her love for God.

She prepared for death with the same enthusiasm that she lived with, by fully trusting in the Word of God and believing that she will bask in her eternal reward forever.
